  • Experienced breeders help Brazil

It would be helpful if experienced breeders would post their studies on pup socialization here. Here in Brazil animals older than 50 days are considered "old" and it is much more difficult to get a home for them, due to the fact that all breeders sell at 45 days.On any site you read in Portuguese, it is recommended 45 days for a puppy to be separated from their parents and sold, and 30 days if they are staying with another adult. Many people have told me that this is based on the general experien…

Zitat von snapcracklepop: „As you see, Tatiane, we get pretty excited about all this gerbil stuff Please tell us if you are interested in recommendations relating to mass breeders, breeders for the laboratory market, or small-scale breeders of gerbils as beloved home pets. We are neither scientists, nor large-scale breeders - obviously other criteria apply. We are mainly gerbil lovers and keepers of one or more gerbil "groups", it is rarely our intention to have offspring, since there are so ma…

Hello friends!I met this amazing forum a few days ago, and I'm amazed reading all the topics. In a topic I came across breeders, apparently very experienced, stating that parents should be separated from puppies at least 2 months. Here in Brazil, all sites and breedings recommend that the separation be done with 45 days. Experienced breeders claimed that by this time imprinting was already formed and there was no need to keep it with an adult.According to the information obtained in this forum, …

  • Are you sure about clay based cat toilets?I would like to have some article on this to show the breedings here.As for your liner. She looks like wood chips. What kind of wood is it? Because here we do not use pine because of the proven toxicity in scientific articles. Thanks!!

  • Nagen Rennmäuse nicht daran?

  • I use hay, but it doesn't control the odor, we use it only to make them nest. This is the sand we us : petz.com.br/produto/areia-higi…jbWOnXa4_4eAaAqCIEALw_wcB

  • Something very important that I forgot to mention, the sand we use and the clay base. Do you think it's toxic too or just silica based?

  • The use of cellulose litter would make all gerbil breeding in Brazil impossible, its value is exorbitant for a small amount. But I would be willing to make a switch if it really benefited the animals. But as I said before, some breeders have kept creations for over 10 years without problems with cat litter, I find it very strange that this caused dysplasia, but I do not rule out the possibility that it causes "invisible" problems.

  • Thank you for all your comments. I would like to explain a few things. 1 - There are only 4 forrations found in Brazil, which could be used for gerbils. petlove.com.br/pipipet-cama-pa…ONaVO3n3wvJwaAoKqEALw_wcB That's a cellulose bed, which is not toxic to any animal. However, it leaves the hair of the gerbils extremely oily. Hay: We use hay, but if it is used exclusively for lining the terrarium has to be cleaned many times a week (the smell is bad). The third option would be sawdust, but in Br…

  • Zitat von snapcracklepop: „Hi Tatiane, welcome to our German gerbil forum You live in Brazil, and keep and breed Mongolian gerbils? I speak English and German fluently, so maybe I can help. As I understand it, you have gerbil litters which suffer from Zitat von Tatiane Picharelli: „cojufemurale Dysplasie “ This doesn't translate well and we are not sure what you mean. We think you are saying that there might be a genetic problem with your pups regarding their hindquarters/legs, which are sprawl…

  • Sure.

  • I believed it was genetic because the whole litter was born that way.But a few weeks ago I realized that another animal with no genetic location with that litter was having the same problem. The vet claimed to be an external factor, but was unsure what it would be.Link below the substrate, and photo of the environment where they live. petz.com.br/produto/areia-higi…gfnMhvP_yk6xoCXyoQAvD_BwE

  • I am aware that it is not entirely adequate. But it is the best we have to use, within the constraints of our country. The sawdust sold here is pine, a tree toxic to animals.Anyway, two of my animals had dysplasia, and I'm worried that it might be from contact with the smooth glass. We have to use a small amount of cat litter because it releases a dust that can cause allergies.

  • sorr but I still do not get it ... is this to fill the habitat or to eat for them ? Because fodder means "food" (comida). Zitat von smurf79: „ “ Sorry. fill the habitat

  • English is easier.I was referring to clay-based cat litter. We don't have adequate sawdust here, or anything else in Germany for fodder. We use a hamster for corn based hamster that doesn't harm rodents. However, it leaves the hair of the gerbils extremely oiled. All gerbil breeders in Brazil use cat litter.
